Hydraulic Arm

Introduction

My Hydraulic arm is made of wood, glue, and screws. At first I thought this would be very easy and then as it went on, I found myself not understanding a lot. I didn’t know the difference between a lock nut and a normal nut. I didn’t know which screws to use. But as I continued working on it I saw it come along and it was overall a great experience and I learned a lot.

About this project

I am not gonna lie I really only did this because I like having good grades and Mr.D assigned it…. But it ended up being a really fun mentally challenging project. I believe a big purpose of this project was to observe and pay attention to all the little details, because if you missed one little washer the whole robot functioned differently than it was supposed to.

The overall build process

I used a lot of different screw drivers and wrench’s, I struggled to know which one did which so there was a lot of errors. I eventually figured it out with a LOT of hot glue! The different sized screws definitely set my robot up for failure, but in the end it pulled through and he works pretty well!

Conclusion

When it comes to things that didn’t work I would say not having the screws labeled did not benefit me! Something that worked really well was having the diagram of everything we needed in the same size, because I could lay everything out onto the paper and match it all up! Next time I am definitely gonna work faster so I can get to putting the tubes on it. I think the one thing the hydraulic arm needs is some color and glitter, other than that I would say it was a very nice robot.
